Ottawa Community Housing Unveils $310,000 Revitalization at 380 Murray

Ottawa, ON — (December 11, 2025) Ottawa Community Housing is celebrating the completion of the revitalization at 380 Murray Street, delivering brighter, more modern, and welcoming shared spaces for the building’s 360 tenants. The $310,000 investment is part of OCH’s Welcome Home program, an initiative that enhances the functionality of common areas while strengthening comfort and belonging for tenants.
Built in 1973, the 11-storey building has been refreshed to improve daily life for tenants of all ages. Through the Welcome Home Program, launched in 2017, tenants were consulted and played an active role in shaping the improvements that matter most to their community.
Key upgrades include:
- New ceramic wall tiles in the main lobby, elevator areas, and lobby walls on every floor.
- New durable vinyl tile flooring in corridors and the laundry room.
- Fresh paint throughout corridors, stairwells, the tenant lounge, and laundry room
- Upgraded lighting and signage, including accessibility-compliant features
- New folding counters in the laundry room for improved functionality
- Corner guards to reduce wear and tear
- Upgraded mailboxes for improved organization and access

“The spaces feel brighter and more welcoming. It’s nice to come home and see these improvements,” said Linda, a resident at 380 Murray. “This investment means a lot to us. It shows that people care about our community and want our building to feel like a good place to live.”
With Canada’s community housing portfolio averaging over 50 years in age, the Welcome Home program allows OCH to invest in both the daily lives of tenants and the preservation of affordable housing through targeted capital improvements, supporting the long-term sustainability of the portfolio.
